Important safety notice:

Thomson power–adapter plug for the BT Home Hub 2.0

A very small number of the power–adapter plugs supplied with the BT Home Hub 2.0 could have a manufacturing defect. This only affects power–adapter plugs included with the new BT Home Hub 2.0 launched on 18 July 2008, pictured here:

BT Home Hub - plug

This defect may cause the cover of the power–adapter plug to become loose. This could happen when unplugging the power–adapter plug from the socket with force or if the plug is knocked sharply, for example by a vacuum cleaner. It is quite safe if left alone. Replacements are being sent out over the next few weeks: this is automatic and you do not need to do anything to receive this replacement. If you have any further queries please e-mail btpsu@kazoo.co.uk.

These instructions are designed to enable you to replace your power–adapter plug with the replacement that we are sending to you. It is important to follow these instructions carefully so that the top cover does not come off of the power–adapter plug, this is potentially hazardous.

  1. Switch off the power to the socket where your power–adapter plug is plugged in. Confirm that the power is switched off by checking that all the lights on the front of your BT Home Hub 2.0 are off.

If there is no power switch on the socket or extension cable, we recommend that the power be switched off at the mains.

Plug, switch off
  1. Pull out the old power–adapter plug by gripping the case at its widest point at the sides. In the unlikely instance of the top cover coming off, take extreme care removing the base part of the power–adapter plug as there may be sharp edges.

  2. Remove the cable cover from the back of your BT Home Hub 2.0 and remove the old power–adapter lead.

You do not need to remove any of the other cables that are connected to the back of the Hub. Insert the power lead from the replacement power–adapter plug into the socket marked 'Power' on your BT Home Hub 2.0.

  1. Now plug your replacement power–adapter plug (making sure that it has the green mark on it) into a mains socket and switch the power on (at the socket or at the mains)

  2. Your BT Home Hub 2.0 will now be switched on – wait for it to power up – this can take a few minutes. When the Power, Broadband and Wireless lights glow blue you are ready to go.

Tips:

  • If your computer fails to reconnect to your Hub please restart your computer and try connecting to the Hub again.

  • If the three blue lights do not come on, restart your Hub by pressing the 'Restart' button on the side of your Hub and wait another few minutes for the lights to glow blue.

  • If the Upgrade light is flashing orange this means that your Hub is receiving an automatic upgrade and should be left alone until the upgrade is complete and the three lights are glowing blue. This could take up to an hour (but is usually less than 15 minutes).

  1. Place your old power–adapter plug in the postage paid envelope provided and pop it into the post so that Thomson can recycle its components. This will also ensure that it is not used again in error.

  1. Thank you, you're ready to get back online. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
